The Patients Health Access Coalition (PHAC) is a passionate and dedicated alliance of patients, healthcare providers, and advocates united by a common cause: to protect and expand access to affordable healthcare for all.
We work tirelessly to challenge the unfair practices of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), who often impose restrictions that limit patient choices, drive up medication costs, and hinder access to necessary care. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, PHAC strives to create a healthcare system that prioritizes the needs of patients, not profits.

Why We Exist
Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) play a pivotal role in the healthcare system, but their business practices often prioritize corporate profit over patient well-being. These practices can result in limited medication options, higher out-of-pocket costs, and complicated approval processes, all of which can negatively impact patient health outcomes.
PHAC was formed to fight back against these injustices. By advocating for policies that hold PBMs accountable, we aim to reduce the financial strain on patients and ensure that their healthcare choices are respected.
How We Do It
At PHAC, we believe in the power of strategic, well-organized advocacy. By partnering with former leaders of the North Carolina General Assembly and other influential healthcare professionals, we are championing efforts to bring transparency and competition to the healthcare system.
